overview.
finscale is a fitness technology startup building a smart training companion for everyday athletes. founded by certified coaches and performance engineers, their goal was simple: make expert-level fitness guidance accessible, affordable, and enjoyable for everyone.
challenge.
most fitness apps overwhelm users with generic plans, cluttered dashboards, and reward loops that feel manipulative. finscale's early prototype had strong adaptive coaching technology, but the interface buried it under layers of friction.
users were dropping off in the first week. the app wasn't communicating its most powerful feature — real-time intelligence — because the design got in the way.

solution.
we rebuilt the entire product around a single guiding principle: reduce the distance between intent and action. the onboarding uses a 3-step adaptive questionnaire that feels like a conversation, not a form. the dashboard surfaces exactly three metrics at a time — progress, momentum, and next action.
the visual language is deliberately athletic: dark, high-contrast, kinetic. micro-animations celebrate milestones without interrupting flow. every screen was tested with real users across five sprint cycles before handoff.

the best fitness app isn't the one with the most features. it's the one you open every morning without thinking about it. we designed finscale to become a habit.
outcome.
within 90 days of launch, finscale achieved a 68% improvement in 30-day user retention compared to the previous version. app store ratings climbed from 3.1 to 4.7 stars.
the user base grew from 12,000 to over 80,000 active users in the first year. the design system and component library we delivered reduced finscale's time-to-ship for new features by approximately 30%.
